Our Story
About Bruno Ballestrero
I began my exploration of the connection between body and mind/heart at an early age. As the son of psychologists (with more than a decade of psychotherapy experience), I always felt that something was missing from the spoken word alone. I began to study kung fu and yoga seriously at the age of 14, and to teach kung fu and tai chi at 18.
At 21, I earned a living exclusively from this work, to which I continued to add and explore new approaches (kettlebell training, functional training, self-defense, Zen meditation, and other schools of martial arts). I founded Centro San Bao in 2008 in Buenos Aires, which functioned until the end of 2020, and San Bao Center in Hawaii, which functioned from 2013-2018. I have also taught classes in universities, retirement homes, private companies, and clubs. See my full CV here.
My Passion
My passion for teaching the art of conscious movement stems from the simple desire to help people feel better. My most committed students say that their practice helps them to strengthen, heal, and grow as individuals. This is what motivates me to continue learning and growing myself.
Currently I study the so-called "Practical Method" of tai chi with master Chen Zonghua and I received my transformational life coach diploma in 2024. In parallel, I continue to inform myself in the new frontiers of neuroscience, psychology, and the treatment of trauma, which reinforce that many difficulties – physical as well as emotional – respond better to an integrated therapy, incorporating the body intentionally into a program of recovery or healing. Because in the end, we are (as I intuited in my adolescence) complex and complete individuals, and to truly cultivate our health, we must embrace its totality.
Let's explore your self-integration
What I've discovered over the years is that the pathway to wellbeing is not a straight line, but rather a journey of surprises and challenges like life itself. I hope to accompany you in yours, and contribute something of value to it.
